Wondering If It's Time to Downsize? Here's How to Decide.

  • Are you experiencing a sense of isolation or separation? Living in a spacious home alone or with just your partner can sometimes be challenging to maintain and can also lead to moments of loneliness. Transitioning to a 55+ active adult community can simplify your lifestyle and offer you increased social interactions and a variety of activities right within the community.

  • Do you consider lawn care and garden upkeep to be a burden? If you discover that you lack the energy or interest needed for certain home upkeep and maintenance tasks, downsizing might offer relief by eliminating the need for landscape upkeep and maintenance repairs.

  • Are there any physical challenges or obstacles in your living space? As you get older, certain things like stairs, old-fashioned bathrooms, lengthy driveways, and walkways can become safety concerns. If you or a loved one are dealing with mobility issues, chronic pain, or other health challenges that make daily tasks difficult, you might want to think about moving into a single-story home that better suits your needs.

If you find that your home is filled with clutter, has too much empty space, or is increasingly becoming a burden, it could be the right time to consider downsizing.

Ready to Move?

Moving can be difficult for anyone, but it can also be very exciting! Whether it's downsizing, packing, or embracing the perks of community living, we want to to help make your move seamless and ensure you settle into Library Place with ease.

Tip #1: Plan Ahead

Moving can be a time-consuming process, so it's essential to start planning early. Create a moving checklist in advance to reduce stress and allow ample time for each task. If possible, utilize your new floor plan, which can be found online, to determine what items to bring and where to position them. At Library Place, you have the opportunity to explore all available floor plans and select the one that best suits your needs.

Tip #2: Organize and Label

Sort and label your belongings based on their final destination. Label and color code your boxes to help the movers drop them off in the right rooms, and so you know what to unpack when you need to. Avoid setting items aside as maybe' to eliminate adding extra steps that can prolong the packing process.

Tip #3: Take Care of Yourself

Moving can be stressful, so be sure to take care of yourself during the process. Take breaks as needed, get plenty of rest, and eat healthy meals to stay energized. The moving process can be overwhelming if done alone, don't hesitate to ask for help from family and friends if needed.
